I've Been Busy...
Well, I've been busy as hell during the last month or so. I closed on a new condo at the end of July and will be moving later this coming week/weekend. I hate moving, but it's only a few miles away from where I currently live so hopefully it won't be that bad. Regardless, I'm excited as hell to finally be getting in there. I had the new washer and dryer delivered last week after 3 days of hit and miss delivery service from Best Buy and my the wood floors are being installed tomorrow, so I'm pretty stoked!
A few days after I closed on my new place I hopped on a flight to Las Vegas to support JS in the main event at the WSOP. A couple of my buddies were flying out on a flight after me but the weather was so bad that they were delayed 2 hours, so I was stuck in the Vegas airport getting drunk waiting for them to arrive. When we finally got to the hotel, we were all pretty beat from the time change that we just crashed out. The next morning, we played some cash games and entered a $50 tournament which my friend BT won and took away something like $1,000! It was awesome watching him take people out left and right and when he got to heads-up play, he was at his best and just bulldozed the guy he was playing against.
The next day we were there, we went to watch JS play, but the tournament organizers weren't letting any spectators in for most of the first day because the room was just way too packed and was a fire hazard. So, the whole group of us walked around the poker trade show that was going on, saw some poker celebrities and tried to get as many free drinks as we could. It was almost impossible to gamble at the Rio because the lowest limit table was $25 bucks a hand. So, we wasted our money at the bar drinking and waiting. By the time they were allowing spectators in, JS was low stacked and about to go out. He played well, but it's tough when you get your Ace's cracked in the first 15 minutes and lose half your chip stack. He fought hard though and did us all proud.
After JS was knocked out, it was time to get as drunk as possible. We went to this bar/casino next to The Flamingo (O'Malley's I think) and drank $1 drafts during their 18 hour happy hour. Then it was off to New York, New York for some pizza and partying at the piano bar there which was awesome! After we closed that place down, everyone wanted to gamble so we all went over to Excalibur for the $1-$3 NL tables. I was drunk and shouldn't have been on the table and made some stupid plays and lost my $100 pretty quick.
The next morning I went to The Flamingo's poker room for some cards and bloody mary's. The bloody mary's kickstarted my system again just enough to actually go up on the weekend at the cash tables. After I spent a little too long on the table, I ended up even on the weekend which was pretty damn good for me. The rest of the day was spent hanging out by the pool and playing some friendly games in the hotel room with my friends before I had to take the red-eye out. I was winning money when I had to rush out of there like a madman for fear of missing my flight! I just made it to the gate in time and after getting maybe 1 hour of sleep on the plane, was back home for a full day of work first thing in the morning. It was rough, but fun as hell! I even got to see an old friend of mine who used to work for me at a former job. She's living in Vegas and working for Mandalay Bay now.
In other news, I played in Moneymaker's Millions freeroll on Pokerstars this afternoon while I was at work today. Out of over 9,000 players, I finished 1793 which is pretty good. I had some big wins, but the cards went cold for me and I didn't stand a chance after that. Still not a big fan of online poker, but I'll play some small cash games and freerolls just to get some games in and perhaps sharpen my skills a bit. I don't know if it really helps though.
Anyway, I gotta run. I've been at the office all day and I would really like to get home and relax a bit. I'll post more later when I get some more time!
